These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Akaalo website at akaalo.com and the Nambi offline AI tutor software ("Nambi"), provided by Akaalo Ltd ("Akaalo", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing our website or using Nambi, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Akaalo
Akaalo Ltd is registered in Uganda and Ireland. We develop and deploy the Nambi offline AI educational tutor for learners in Uganda and across Africa. Contact: hello@akaalo.com.
2. Use of This Website
You may use akaalo.com to learn about Akaalo and Nambi, contact us for partnership enquiries, and make donations. You agree not to:
- Use the website for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our systems
- Scrape, copy, or reproduce content without permission
- Submit false or misleading information through our contact form
3. Nambi Software
Nambi is provided to programme operators (schools, vocational training centres, NGOs) under a separate deployment agreement. The following applies to all users of Nambi:
- Nambi is intended for educational use only
- The software is provided as-is for offline use on authorised devices
- You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or redistribute Nambi without written permission from Akaalo
- Curriculum content in Nambi is the intellectual property of Akaalo Ltd and may not be extracted or republished without authorisation
- AI-generated responses from Nambi are for educational guidance only and should not be treated as professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise)
4. Programme Operators
Schools, vocational training centres, and NGOs deploying Nambi ("programme operators") agree to:
- Use Nambi only for the educational purposes agreed with Akaalo
- Ensure appropriate supervision of learners using Nambi, particularly minors
- Obtain necessary parental or guardian consents where required by local law
- Not transfer, sublicense, or share Nambi software with parties outside the programme without Akaalo's consent
- Notify Akaalo promptly of any device loss, theft, or data breach
5. Donations
Donations made through this website are voluntary contributions to support Akaalo's mission. By donating:
- You confirm you are authorised to make the payment using the payment method provided
- You understand donations are non-refundable except in cases of fraudulent or erroneous charges
- You understand donations do not confer ownership, equity, or governance rights in Akaalo Ltd
- Donations are processed by Stripe or PayPal and are subject to their terms of service

6. Intellectual Property
All content on akaalo.com and within the Nambi software — including text, code, curriculum materials, designs, and the Nambi and Akaalo names and logos — is the intellectual property of Akaalo Ltd unless otherwise stated. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to use our intellectual property except as explicitly permitted.
7. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Nambi uses a locally-run large language model to generate educational responses. While we design Nambi to be accurate and appropriate for its educational context:
- AI responses may occasionally be incorrect, incomplete, or outdated
- Nambi is not a substitute for qualified teachers, trainers, or professional advisors
- Akaalo does not accept liability for decisions made based solely on Nambi's responses
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Akaalo Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our website or Nambi software, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or interruption of service.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to Akaalo in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Akaalo Ltd, its directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of our services in a manner not authorised by these Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that may apply in your country of residence.
For users in Uganda, disputes may also be resolved under Ugandan law where applicable.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the effective date above. Continued use of our website or Nambi after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
